Last weekend I escaped the city with my pal Stacey in favor of Center Ossipee, New Hampshire for a little R and R. We borrowed a coworker's house, which turned out to be a rounded treehouse, high above the other homes, overlooking a lake. We brought all of the provisions one could possibly need for a ladies weekend away, and proceeded to relax - Coquettish Cook style.
On Friday night, we took it easy, relaxing with some wine and cheese. My new favorite combo: blue cheese, figs and honey... mmm...
Saturday, we woke up refreshed and ready to check out our surroundings. First we checked out some scenery. (Photos after the jump.)
What I love about places like this... natural beauty everywhere.
Wow...
My first covered bridge!
Country road
If only Bear Bones BBQ had been open!
Maxin' and re-laxin'
After a lot of antique stores and allowing the road to take us where it would, we started towards our desitination: North Conway and Moat Mountain Brewery. By this point, starvation was setting in and our destination seemed like nothing more than a figment of our imaginations. But after some silly traffic and a little hunting and pecking, we found our lunch...
The BBQ pork with garlic mashed potatoes, coleslaw and corn bread.
BBQ up close and personal
Did I mention the corn bread was cheddar jalapeno?
A 5 beer tasting for $5!
My close friends, Amber and Porter.
This was a delicious and HEARTY lunch. Afterward, we felt the need to walk it off. North Conway has an adorable downtown area with some really cute shops. And we had the good fortune to catch it during some sort of craft fair. We picked up some yummy fudge and maple cotton candy for later.
For dinner that night: Pinot Noir, champagne, fudge and cotton candy.
Boo-yeah! Great weekend get-away.

Looks like fun- ahh to ramble along a back road with a partner-in-crime unencumbered... enjoyed reading your thoughts. Cooking has become a ho-hum drudgery what with the meat demanding hub and picky kids- it's pretty sad so go ahead and inspire me.
Thanks cousin Lynn! PS... I got a kick out of "meat demanding hub!"
